Working With The Community

At Las Iguanas we believe in helping our communities, both locally and globally. Throughout the year we support various incredible charities right on our restaurants' doorsteps here in the UK, and for the second year running we have run our Community Christmas Present Fund in partnership with The Entertainer, the UK's largest independent toy retailer.

As a result 35 children’s hospices, hospitals and groups supporting families have had a visit from the Las Iguanas Christmas elves this year delivering over £24,000 worth of toys to give Santa a helping hand. Thank you to all our guests who helped us to turn parties in to presents again this year and a big Gracias to the team at The Entertainer for supporting the Fund again.

We also back a number of other UK charities throughout the year including Macmillan Cancer Research, Orchid Male Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care.

World Cup-date We had World Cup Fever in 2014 and shared our love of the beautiful game by awarding £1000 sponsorships to three football teams and sending some other lucky winners off to Brazil including our Community Sporting Hero Adam Chapman. Find out more here.

STARTING A FRESH REVOLUTION...We love people and we love fresh food! Our Spitalfields and Stratford, London restaurants started their Tomato Project at Old Spitalfields Market and Westfield Stratford last year with assistance from willing landlords. Schools from around the area have been "growing their own" in the allotments to raise awareness and discover the joy and passion for growing fresh vegetables. The children most definitely discovered their 'green fingers' and appreciated growing their own fresh food as much as we do. Success!

Our main charity partner is the LATA FOUNDATION who do a fantastic job in supporting small, grass-root organisations throughout South America and Mexico and they make a significant difference to many families across the continent.

Our nominated project at present is a ballet school for disadvantaged under-12's called Projeto Vidancar in one of Rio de Janeiro's largest favelas and a number of the Las Iguanas team have been able to visit the kids in Brazil and see the great work that Ellen and the team there are doing in growing the project to allow many more activities for even more children. In 2014 we have been able to help the Project to move to larger premises with much better facilities.

We support the LATA Foundation through our Children’s Menu and our team also take part in a variety of fundraising activities. You can learn more about the LATA Foundation on their website at www.latafoundation.org
